It’s Not Just the Money: Why is Affordable Housing Such an Intractable Problem?

We hear about the lack of affordable housing so often that it can become easy to ignore. Sue Loellbach, Director of Joining Forces for Affordable Housing, will help us understand why this issue needs our attention. We will learn about the nearly invisible mechanisms, both structural and attitudinal, that stand in the way of affordable homes for everyone who needs them. Much like unconscious bias that requires recognition before it can be dis-empowered, we will learn how practices and attitudes that seem neutral, or even benign, often prevent individuals in our communities from having the security of a home. Come to learn the scope of this issue, why it persists and compounds,  and what actions we can take to make improvements.
