Queer Theory: Aging in the LGBTQ Population (CH)

Join us in Chicago as Rena McDaniel explores the cultural changes taking place in society today vis-à-vis the LGBTQ community. She’ll discuss and help us develop an understanding of language changes including the use of pronouns, and emerging concepts related to gender, sexual diversity, and concerns of aging in the LGBTQ population. 10-15 minutes will be reserved for a question and answer session following the talk. A Diversity & Inclusion Committee event –  to enhance and expand diversity and inclusion at OLLI. Free and open to all current OLLI members. 
Rena McDaniel holds a Masters of Education and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois. She works primarily with the LGBTQ population, specifically those feeling anxious and lost about a transition they’re experiencing in sex, gender, sexual identity, or relationships. She also provides consultation & training for professionals and organizations looking to increase their knowledge and sensitivity in these areas.
