Hands-On AI for Everyone

« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Curious about artificial intelligence and how it can help you in your daily life? Whether you are completely new to AI or already experimenting with it, this study group offers a welcoming, hands-on introduction to today's most popular AI tools.  Using the free versions of ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude, we will begin with the basics: creating accounts, navigating the platforms, and writing effective prompts. We will then dive in to activities, using AI to help us plan, analyze, research, brainstorm, learn new skills, role-play difficult conversations, and create multi-step projects. This is not a book-based discussion of AI, but rather an active learning experience in which participants will complete exercises, challenges, and projects each week, both in class and at home.. Everyone should bring a laptop or tablet to each session to participate fully.  By the end of the study group, you will have a solid understanding of what AI can do, know how to use several leading AI platforms, and feel confident applying these tools in your personal, volunteer, and professional activities.  No prior AI experience is required, and all skill levels are welcome.  This will be a 10 week study group, from September 15 to November 17.
