With descriptive flair and acerbic wit, Brendon traces the economic and political chaos of the 1930s that step by step led to the global slaughter of the 1940s. Through our discussions of the text, we are witness to the events as they occur in each of the countries involved, Britain, France, the United States, Russia, Spain, Japan, Germany, and Italy. We will discover trenchant sketches of all the players, both major and minor, who either led or followed in the march through the Dark Valley into the crucible of war. Join us for a look back on this tumultuous decade.
