ClassGraphic This study group enters its second semester this fall with an exciting selection of films. The syllabus will include foreign films, early films of well known directors as well as independent films. Occasionally we may include older films that while well known when first released, have faded from our collective consciousness over time. Our goal with each film is to investigate cinematography, character development, symbolism, use of framing, light, color and sound as well as the film’s place in social as well as cinematic history. Each week we will view the film in class as a group. If you wish to watch the film beforehand on your own, go for it. For each film there will be a volunteer presenter from the group. They will prepare opening remarks on the film and lead a discussion after the film centering around questions they have prepared. The questions and reviews or interviews about the film will be sent to you before the session via Augusoft email. We will also use the OLLI website, MyOLLINU, to provide you further information about each film in the form of video clips, trailers, interviews or other relevant material.
