Miracle and Wonder: Conversations with Paul Simon

« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Imagine for a moment that you had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with Paul Simon.
What would you ask? What would you hope to hear?
In 2020, Malcolm Gladwell and Bruce Headlam did just that — and we are the lucky ones to get to listen in. On nine separate occasions, each lasting four hours or more, they sat down with Paul Simon. Those conversations became a six-hour, musical audiobook unlike any other: Miracle and Wonder, Conversations with Paul Simon, published by Pushkin Industries.
Miracle is not a traditional audiobook. It is a unique and intimate listening experience in which Simon shares anecdotes, answers questions, and reflects on his creative process, often while playing guitar and singing.
Each week we will listen to a 25–30 minute segment of the audiobook, followed by a discussion of our reactions, insights, and memories inspired by what we hear. Participants will take turns serving as discussion leader.
If hearing a Paul Simon refrain can still give you chills—or transport you to another time and place—this study group is for you.
Hello darkness, my old friend
