ClassGraphic What can we learn about history and culture as well as politics and spycraft from reading espionage novels? From D-Day to Syria, Shanghai to Luxembourg, the United States to Europe, join us to read and discuss six award-winning or highly-regarded espionage novels set in locations around the globe. We will read one book per week, including: Jackdaws, Ken Follett (Penguin Books, 2002); Damascus Station, David McCloskey (W. W. Norton & Co., 2022); Shanghai, Joseph Kanon (Scribner, 2025); The Expats: A Novel, Chris Pavone (Crown, 2013); The Quantum Spy: A Thriller, David Ignatius (W.W. Norton & Co., 2018); and The Sympathizer: A Novel, Viet Thanh Nguyen (Grove Press, 2016).
