Classic Cinema of The Cold War Era

Most of us were around during the Cold War era, which spanned 45 years from the end of WW2 in 1946 to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Some disturbing events occurred in those years: The HUAC/McCarthy Communist "witch hunts," the Korean War, the U-2 spy plane incident, the Cuban missile crisis, the “Bomb” scare, and the Vietnam War. Some classic films depicting Cold War events were made then and will be viewed and discussed in this study group. Among such films are:  The Manchurian Candidate, Good Night And Good Luck, Dr. Strangelove..., Bridge Of Spies, and several more.  Join us for a cinematic trip through this tense and troubling time in our history. Film will be viewed in class with discussion to follow.
