Our world is marked by rapid change and increasing uncertainty. Today’s global landscape is shaped by economic and political multipolarity, making international affairs more complex than ever. Understanding this complexity requires careful analysis and thoughtful discussion. We deliberately avoid domestic politics except when U.S. events have direct global consequences. Each week a different class member leads the conversation selecting pre-class materials (typically around 20 pages) and questions to initiate discussion. We rely on multiple reputable news sources, respected foreign policy journals, engaging podcasts, videos, authoritative websites, and compelling opinion pieces. Often, just one or two questions spark vibrant discussions that last over an hour. it’s hard to not speak when the issues and ideas flow. When our discussion grapples with complex issues and ideas, everyone learns. We believe the collective insights could benefit the State Department, if they asked.
