OLLI study groups bring together people with many different life experiences, viewpoints, and
interests. These differences often make discussions richer and more engaging—but they can also
lead to moments of tension, uncertainty, or disagreement.
This session invites coordinators to reflect on how they already handle these moments and to
explore practical ways to guide thoughtful, respectful conversations when topics become complex
or challenging.
Rather than a lecture or formal training, this will be a highly interactive session. Participants will
share real situations from their own groups, try out different facilitation strategies, and learn from
one another. The goal is to build confidence, expand your toolkit, and leave you with concrete ideas
you can use right away to support meaningful dialogue in your study groups.
