Light-operated pacemakers. The impact of air pollution on psychiatric disorders. These are just some of the research projects and medical advancements taking place among Chicago’s biomedical research facilities with support of the Chicago Biomedical Consortium (CBC). Join us as the Consortium’s Executive Director, James Audia, sheds light on the scope of the CBC and its programs to enhance research and improve health conditions. Launched in 2001 by philanthropist Daniel Searle to foster collaboration among Chicago’s leading research universities including Northwestern University, University of Chicago, and University of Illinois at Chicago, the CBC focuses on promoting and enhancing biomedical research in the Chicago area.

This event is free and open to all current OLLI members. Registration is required.

James Audia, Ph.D. joined the CBC as Executive Director in 2017 after a long and distinguished career in the pharmaceutical industry at both Eli Lilly and Constellation Pharmaceuticals where he still serves on their Board of Directors. He also serves on numerous Scientific Advisory Boards, Advisory Boards, and Steering Committees and is an Adjunct Professor at University of Illinois at Chicago. He holds a PhD from the University of South Carolina, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University, and has been issued over 100 U.S. patents.

Our Leading Edge lecture series is held at lunchtime or the end of the day on the Evanston campus. The series is free and open to all OLLI members.
