« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Join our lively discussion of Elizabeth Strout’s Olive Kitteridge (Random House, 2008), winner of the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. This “novel in stories” is linked by the presence of the blunt, flawed, and fascinating Olive Kitteridge, who journeys through middle age into old age. The New York Times review says this book “manages to combine the sustained, messy investigation of the novel with the flashing insight of the short story. By its very structure, sliding in and out of different tales and different perspectives, it illuminates both what people understand about others and what they understand about themselves.” The study group will read two stories weekly with each story discussion led by a participant.
