ClassGraphic Welcome to America: Refugee Resettlement in Chicago
60,000 Afghan refugees came to America in August 2021, resulting from the US’ withdrawal from Afghanistan. Chicago will welcome more than 2500 Afghans in 2022. ECAC, a refugee resettlement agency in Chicago, has resettled 280 Afghans and is working on resettling another 375. They are developing plans to resettle Ukrainian refugees displaced by Russia’s invasion.
Join us as Hannah Werner, Program Director of ECAC, shares insights on the global refugee situation and how Chicago is helping with resettlement. She will be joined by a client who will share his experiences.

Sponsored by the OLLI Chicago Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
