James Cagney, a product of New York City's rough and tumble Lower East Side, was a popular star of stage and screen for nearly 50 years. Although he was most often associated with gangster movies, Cagney also won critical acclaim for his roles in musicals and comedies during his long acting career. But, in the 1950s, an aging Cagney gave some of his finest performances in Mr. Roberts (1954), Man of a Thousand Faces (1956), Love Me or Leave Me (1955), and Shake Hands with the Devil (1959). These are the films that will be shown and discussed in our study group. Join us as we pay tribute to this late and great iconic actor.
