Explore Your Brain On Art

« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Many of us think of the arts primarily as entertainment. However, the arts can help us build healthier and richer lives. Two very creative women, Ivy Ross and Susan Magsamen, have written a new book, Your Brain On Art: How The Arts Transform Us (Random House, 2023). This book explains how activities such as painting, dancing, drawing, architecture, sculpture, music, creative writing, and more, are essential to our lives. In this study group, we will use this new book as our primary source material, and we will add other media to illustrate various points the authors make. Our discussions will highlight various ways the book can serve as a portal into understanding how the arts can help us build healthier and richer lives. Join us for a study group that explores breakthrough research in a new field called “neuroarts,” brings insights from multidisciplinary pioneers, and offers fascinating stories from people who are using the arts to enhance their lives.
