Chicago Housing Authority New Development Tour

ID : 993
« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Registration closes May 1. Cost: $14 (includes boxed lunch). The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) is tasked with providing low-income housing for more than 63,000 seniors, veterans and families-in-need across Chicago. Join us for an insightful bus tour that takes us up close to see new CHA developments and learn about current efforts, planning, and the challenges faced by the CHA. CHA Project Managers, Ahlam Khouri and Robin Broman, will serve as our guides. We’ll drive past the sites previously occupied by the Henry Horner homes and Cabrini Green to gain insight on what’s happening in these areas now. We’ll also see Roosevelt Square and visit two new developments — the Clybourn 1200 Apartments and the Little Italy Branch Library, which is part of partnership between the Chicago Public Library and the CHA. We will have lunch at the library with Crystal Palmer, Ombudsman and Asst. Director of Resident Engagement for the CHA. For those who attended last fall’s Building Equity forum, this event will build upon that learning.

This event is open to all current OLLI members. Space is limited. Registration is required.
